Notwithstanding a steady recovery of the capital markets from the freeze that occurred a couple of years ago, the Corporate Transactional practices of some law firms and financial advisory firms are struggling to capitalize on what should be a fine market opportunity for their practices in this market segment. Dave has more than twenty-five years of experience in the Corporate Transactional market. Beyond an exceptional track record as a transactional advisor, he has been an advisor to leading law firms and financial advisory firms looking to improve their market position.
Dave has a long history with capital market transactions going all the way back to serving as a commercial lending executive for one of the country’s largest commercial banks. He was then recruited by Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers) where he and his colleagues built a large middle market M&A advisory practice, with practice offices in more than a dozen cities across the country. Dave ultimately had national responsibility for the Financial Advisory Services practice which grew to over 700 professionals (including approximately one hundred transactional professionals) and—under his leadership—became the fifth line of business for Coopers.
Beyond his practice leadership role, he served as lead partner for a large number of transactional assignments, representing at various times buyers, sellers, and investors. His clients ranged from Fortune 500 public companies to large privately held firms. Through this work, Dave has worked alongside a number of exceptional transactional attorneys.
With the formation in 1995 of his boutique consulting firm, Partners for Market Leadership, Dave became an advisor to firms looking to improve their position in this marketplace. His work moved from the front lines to an important role behind the scenes of guiding firms to improve market position and profitability of their practices. His behind the scenes work provides him with exceptional visibility on changing market dynamics.
Through the Venture Accelerator sector of his Accelerate Success mentoring program, Dave is currently working with a small group of entrepreneurs who have the potential to build companies with a valuation of at least $500 million within a three to five year period. This effort provides Dave with a unique perspective on the service issues being encountered, as well as the client service approaches being used, by leading professional service firms in this market segment.
